We hardly appreciate what almost all of us have: a family. What’s it like to grow up without it?
SOS Kinderdorpen takes care of children who are practically alone because of poverty, war or disease. For their 2012 campaign, the organisation took a camera crew, led by Juliette Stevens, to its Village in the suburbs of Johannesburg, South Africa.
However heartbreaking their stories, it’s easy to fall in love with the children who lost their foundation – their family – and found a new one in the Village. In the campaign film, the children simply talk about what matters: love, care and safety provided by a family. The aim of the campaign was to draw attention to children without parents or a safe home, and to bring in 7000 new donors.
