Lighting up the entire Sahara desert for one night
In order to raise awareness on energy wastage, NUON took on an overwhelming logistical operation to help people visualize the amount of energy that is wasted in the Netherlands every day.
We feel this is a simple and beautiful way using emotions instead of dry figures and statistics to engage people. In order be as authentic as possible in the making of the film, Joeri adopted a documentary-like approach. Hundreds of lamps were transported from the Netherlands to the Moroccan Sahara and the crew simply filmed the different steps of this huge logistical undertaking. A couple of lamps were added in postproduction to enhance the impact of the end-shot.
